[TinyLogin] LDAP authentication with tinylogin - possible?

Hello,
I'm just developing an "embedded domain controller".
It is based on Samba and OpenLDAP, and as an operating system in has
Linux OpenWRT / uclibc, which has busybox at its heart.
Samba doesn't like such environments very much, and it would be best if
it could fetch the users from an LDAP server.
As far as I understand, to do this, one needs Name Service Switch.
What I know so far, there is no NSS for uclibc/busybox, but to achieve
something similar, one can use tinylogin.
Tinylogin mentions in the docs that it is possible to authenticate
against an LDAP server, but nothing more than that ("you're on your own
and have to set it up yourself").
Can anyone give me a couple of tips on how to add LDAP authentication to
tinylogin?
Perhaps I need to compile some extra libraries... but I don't really
know where to start.
